What happens if the weather is bad?

You have options. Depending on the package, you can reschedule, but we also understand that many clients are visiting Chicago and may not have that flexibility. If your proposal needs to happen as planned, we’ll explore all alternatives – including moving to a covered location, switching to one of our indoor venues (if available), or setting up at a venue you provide.

Depending on the package, proposals can take place at select Chicago parks, lakefront locations, rooftops, private venues, hotels and other approved locations. Some locations require permits, venue fees or have restrictions on décor and setup. We'll help determine which locations work with the package you choose.

Late spring through early fall (May–October) is your best outdoor window in Chicago. The lakefront, parks, and rooftop spots really come alive once the weather cooperates. September is our personal favorite recommendation: the summer crowds have thinned out, the light turns golden earlier in the evening, and temperatures are comfortable without the humidity of July and August. If you're set on a winter proposal, we always steer couples toward indoor or covered venues rather than outdoor lakefront spots. Chicago wind off the lake can turn a beautiful moment into a rushed, cold one fast, which is exactly the kind of detail you only learn from actually running proposals here for over a decade.

What's the most photogenic Chicago proposal spot?

There's no single answer as it depends on the backdrop you want. For skyline drama, the Lakefront Trail near North Avenue Beach gives you the classic Chicago skyline-over-water shot. For architecture lovers, Millennium Park (Cloud Gate/"The Bean" area) is unbeatable, though it's also the busiest. For something quieter and greener, the Lincoln Park Conservatory area photographs beautifully without the crowds. In our experience planning proposals at all three, the "best" spot is really the one that matches the couple's story. We've had couples pick a spot because of a first-date memory there, and those photos always end up meaning more than the postcard shot.

Can I propose at the Bean (Cloud Gate)?

Yes you technically can propose here but keep in mind several things. First, the area is always crowded with tourists and onlookers. There will be absolutely no privacy at all here. If you absolutely want to propose here, it's best to go early to avoid the massive crowds. If you are having a photographer you will also need to get a permit for this area.

Do I need a permit to propose in a Chicago park?
