There is so much to think about when planning a once in a lifetime marriage proposal. You have to come up with the perfect proposal idea and figure out how to execute it perfectly. But if you are planning a destination marriage proposal, there’s one thing you absolutely need to ask yourself. That is “How do I get my engagement ring through airport security?” And that is certainly a concern if you plan on popping the question in another city. If you are planning to take an airplane to your proposal destination, here are some tips for keeping your upcoming engagement a surprise.
Avoid Having It On Your Person
One tip you must absolutely adhere to is to make sure that you do not carry the engagement ring on your body. Imagine that you and your beloved are going through security. You step through the body scanner and it goes off. The TSA asks you to empty your pockets and go back through it and then, it happens. She spots the engagement ring and your whole proposal is ruined.
Don’t Check It In
You might be thinking, “ok no problem, I will just check it in.” But no! That is not the solution either. You definitely do NOT want to put your engagement ring in your checked luggage. What if that luggage gets lost? Or what if the luggage goes to Mexico when you are proposing in Paris. These are risks you simply cannot take. So what is the solution?
Carry On!
The solution to where you should put your engagement ring when traveling to your proposal destination is that you should put the ring in your carry-on luggage! With this solution, you simply put your carry-on luggage through the scanner and it will go right on through. Pro-tip, make sure you hide the ring under clothes or other items so that if by chance they do need to open the luggage, your partner will not see it. If you don’t normally travel with a carry-on, now is the time to start.
Store It
Sadly, most engagement rings come in huge bulky engagement ring boxes. That makes it even harder to hide in your luggage. We definitely encourage you to purchase a thin engagement ring box!! Not only does a flat engagement ring box help you easily travel, it also makes for an amazing presentation. Ring Stash, www.ringstash.com offers a .5 inch ring box that will help you keep your proposal a secret until you are ready to reveal it.
