Your New York Proposal, Personally Planned
Planning a proposal in New York City can mean finding a spot that isn’t overrun with tourists, working around park rules and permits, securing rooftop access, coordinating vendors across the city, keeping everything a surprise, and making sure dozens of small details come together at exactly the right moment.
That’s where we come in.
Since 2010, Michele and Marvin have personally helped plan more than 10,000 proposals around the world. We bring that experience to every New York proposal we plan, from a candlelit rooftop garden in Midtown to a private bookstore transformed for one couple’s story.

Real New York Proposals
New York Proposals We’ve Planned
Every custom proposal begins with your relationship, not a template. Here are a few of the stories we’ve turned into unforgettable proposal experiences.

A Private NYC Bookstore
Mishika thought Harpreet wasn’t even in the country. Instead, she walked into a private New York City bookstore where a custom book of his memories led her along a trail of rose petals and music to Harpreet at a grand piano, surrounded by flowers and candlelight. After she said yes, their family and friends stepped out for one final surprise.

A Rooftop Garden Over St. Patrick’s
Vireak and Seimony met on a high school group project they had both asked to be switched out of. Eight years later, we transformed a private rooftop garden overlooking St. Patrick’s Cathedral with florals, candlelight, a moonlit picnic, a live string quartet, and their dog by their side.

High Above the City
Richard had two must-haves: an incredible view of the city and a beautiful setup. We delivered both with a floral “Will You Marry Me, Ashley?” wall on a rooftop overlooking the New York skyline, and Ashley said yes.

NYC Expertise
Planning a Proposal in New York City Takes Local Know-How
From Central Park and Brooklyn Bridge Park to Midtown rooftops and the DUMBO waterfront, New York’s most romantic spots come with crowds, park rules, permit requirements and short windows of privacy. Open flames aren’t allowed in NYC parks, so we design with LED candles, and we time every setup around foot traffic, sunset and the weather. We’ll help you choose the right location, handle venue and permit requirements, coordinate trusted local vendors, and build a plan – including a backup if needed – so everything goes smoothly.

Frequently Asked Questions
New York Proposal Planner FAQ
New York City is one of the most romantic places in the world to propose, and one of the hardest to pull off. Crowds, park rules, rooftop access, changing weather and a city that never slows down all leave room for something to go wrong. Hiring a New York proposal planner means someone who already knows the city is handling the details, so you can focus on your partner instead of logistics.
We handle everything: the concept, location scouting, venue and permit coordination, vendor booking, timeline creation, weather backup plans, and keeping the whole thing a surprise until the moment you kneel. You show up and propose. We handle what’s happening behind the scenes.
It depends on the location, design and vendors you want. Our New York proposal packages start at $499 for a candlelit setup, and fully custom NYC proposals with private venues, florals, musicians, photography and more are priced around your vision. Tell us your budget and we’ll show you what’s possible.
Popular spots include Central Park (Bow Bridge, Bethesda Terrace and Gapstow Bridge), Brooklyn Bridge Park and DUMBO, the High Line, and private rooftops with skyline views. Some of our favorite New York proposals happened somewhere unexpected, like a private bookstore or a rooftop garden overlooking St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The best spot depends on how private you want the moment to be, and we’ll help you choose.
A simple proposal usually doesn’t need one, but décor setups, amplified music and larger gatherings in NYC parks can require a permit, and open flames aren’t allowed. Private rooftops and venues have their own rules too. We’ll tell you what your location requires and handle the approvals so nothing gets shut down on the day.
Yes! We know which spots actually offer privacy and which only look private in photos. For couples who want the moment to themselves, we can secure rooftop terraces, private gardens, event spaces and one-of-a-kind venues, like the private bookstore we arranged for one NYC couple.
New York weather can change quickly, and winter brings cold and snow, so every outdoor proposal we plan has a backup built in from the start. If rain, wind or cold threatens the original setting, we already have a covered or indoor alternative ready to go: no scrambling, no delays.
We recommend reaching out at least 4–6 weeks ahead, especially for a specific rooftop, the holiday season or a popular weekend, because New York venues and vendors book up fast. That said, we’ve pulled off proposals on much tighter timelines, so it’s always worth asking.
